Welcome
Flying To Tangier Island

(February 24, 2008)
Flying Information
Tangier Island (TGI) is 166nm South (202 initial true course) of Princeton airport (39N). We usually do not fly straight down, we head East to the Jersey Shore before following the Atlantic coast line down to the Delaware coast line (across from Cape May, NJ). Then we cut across Delaware and Maryland to reach Chesapeake Bay and Tangier (following R-4006 East border). It is a very beautiful flight for passengers. As depicted on the sample VFR chart, there are a few Restricted area to be aware of.

As shown on the sample IFR chart, there are many VORs in range of Tangier Island for more traditional flyers. For GPS lovers, it is a no-brainer.

The information provided may be estimated and is only valid at the time of the article. Do not use the data provided for any navigational purposes (but I am sure any pilot knows that!)

Short final on Runway 02 at Tangier

From the author: Long enough for a light twin such as a Seminole though bumpy on the 02 end.
