Welcome
Flying To Ocean City, NJ

(February 27, 2008)
Flying Information
Ocean City (26N) is 68nm South (178 initial true course) of Princeton airport (39N). We usually do not fly straight down, we head East to the Jersey Shore before following the Atlantic coast line. We also avoid Atlantic City International (ACY) class C airspace (no need to bother them). On the way up we often take the land route flying West and then North to clear ACY airspace. It is a very beautiful flight for passengers. As depicted on the sample VFR chart, 26N is located South of ACY class C outer ring. As a side note, Atlantic City Bader airfield is closed now ... too many people falling into the water (a shame).

As shown on the sample IFR chart, there are many VORs in range of Ocean City. For GPS lovers, it is a no-brainer. The last time I checked, 26N had a VOR-A and GPS RWY 6 approach. I never used those as the beach would not be my destination if it was IFR.

The information provided may be estimated and is only valid at the time of the article. Do not use the data provided for any navigational purposes (but I am sure any pilot knows that!)

From the author: A nice destination for a $100 (or soon $200) burger if you are based in NJ, PA or DE.
